Ad Astra Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service How

How do we provide premium Deaf/HoH Services?

We bring extra care to how we vet the sign language interpreters we assign for your important appointments through two key components.

The first being linguistic competency. Is the interpreter up to the technical linguistic proficiency for your particular subject matter whether academic, health, or even media relations? We confirm all of our ASL interpreters’ credentials, certifications, educational backgrounds and linguistic aptitudes to ensure they are up to the task for your unique needs.

Secondly, we ensure that the interpreter we choose is culturally competent to guarantee that the communication to the audience is native. Selecting the incorrect interpretation talent can have damaging effects and lead to a client feeling disrespected, isolated or unwilling to communicate due to a lack of trust. It is paramount that we learn as many details as possible about your location or the background of the client to ensure we find the perfect interpreter.

What’s more? If we’re unable to find a suitable resource, which has almost never happened, we’ll tell you. Simple as that. We’d much rather you be better served, than have it reflect poorly on you, your company or event… and us.
